Every time I hear a country music song, good memories of the past starts to flash in. I feel like this kind of song makes me remember the good old days when I was a kid.

It made me sad, but also happy to think of my childhood and how I looked back then. It may not be the case for everybody, but I know that somehow hearing country music makes us feel how good life is.

Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings and The Statler Brothers, these people made Billy Currington starts to dream about country music. These are the influences of his step-father that was shared to him during his younger years. He got Keith Whitley and George Strait on his own.

Billy Currington’s music has its own style and interpretation. There are country music singers whose style can be identified with other artist. Billy proved his craft is different having influences from his own father and even created a song literally for him.

Billy sings with his heart. His past experiences in life (good or bad), goals and dreams made him create songs that speak a thousand words. It defines what he had before and what he wanted to have in life.

You can feel the love, the longing and the aspiration in his lyrics. His non-stop journey to make his songs be heard and be appreciated can be seen anywhere in his music.

He wanted to catch people’s attention and made people realized that what he had in the past is like a foundation that keeps him going after 13 years of existence and just being heard right now.

The ups and down in his life and music career can be a role model to everyone who is in the same situation right now where he was before. The cool sound that he has in his songs will make people sing along with him.

His songs just like his life story needs to be told and told for people not to lose hope and continue to go where their heart told them to go. His adventure in Nashville can be a misadventure if he stopped playing music and create songs.

The way he interprets a song makes you feel that no matter what, life has to go on. “If you gotta go, you gotta go”, a line that can be found in his song “Don’t”.

Billy Currington’s debut album was self-titled and released in 2003. It featured some great material that would get many people to sit up and notice. The album went on to go Gold, and hit #17 on the country charts, which is great for a break out artist.

With his good looks and soulful voice, Billy Currington songs seem to nestle very nicely in the ears of country music fans.

With that album came the great song “Walk a Little Straighter” which people took a very quick liking to. It went on to hit #8 on the Hot Country Singles & Tracks Chart. Billy now found himself as a respected artist and top performer in Nashville.

“I Got a Feeling” from that album went on to hit #5 on the Country Charts which really solidified his standing as a country singer/songwriter.

Shania Twain apparently liked what she heard listening to Billy Currington songs as well, and asked him to sing on her duet “Party for Two” which went on to become Billy’s 3rd top 10 hit. After that teaming up, Billy

“Doin’ Something Right” was Currington’s 2005 sophomore album. Already established as a force to reckon with, this album cemented him, and really drove home the fact that this guy was in Nashville to stay.

This one peaked at #2 on the Top Country Albums Chart and #11 on the Billboard 200.

Currington got his first #1 hit from this album with “Must Be Doing Something Right”…apparently he was because soon after “Driving Directions” also hit number one, with a number #13 hit “Why, Why,Why” sandwiched in between the two peak hits.

Driving directions also went on to be the #2 Album of 2007 according to Billboard.

After cutting short his tour in 2007 for a throat ailment, Currington laid low for a while until October of 2008, releasing his third and latest Album “Little Bit of Everything”.

The album title says it all about the album, because it essentially is a little bit of everything as far as musical styles go.

You can see a review of the album here. So far the runaway hit “Don’t” has gone to #1 on the country charts, and I’m sure there will be plenty more where that came from. Songs like “Every Reason Not to Go”, “People are Crazy”, and “Heal Me” are all radio friendly that seem to have hit all over them…while songs like “Swimmin’ in Sunshine” will be a summer favorite as the album gets more and more popular.

Billy Currington’s twangy soulful voice is here to stay, and his live shows showcase what a great voice he has. You can see where his near constant touring since 2003 has paid off in crafting a great stage performance.

Billy Currington music will be around forever, and likely become a huge influence on the country music scene, where little boys listening to him in their daddy’s trucks will grow up wanting to be him!
